IAYSP-Uganda organized hands-on skills training and character development for cream women’s group in Kalagala Primary School from 14th to 22nd January 2022.
A hands-on skills training and character development program for cream women’s group took place in Kalagala Primary School. The women who were divided in two groups of 25 women each, were educated in character development and then also trained in hands-on skills to learn how to make liquid soap.
The training was designed in such a way as to provide the participants with both hands-on skills in liquid soap making and character education intended to enhance and improve their character, imparting in them the fundamental virtues of life to make them have a balanced life.
The training was meant to get the participants understand how to impact their homes and communities positively economically and socially, to create Resilient communities in Ntenjeru Town council, empower the participants to live richer and more successful lives. Through Liquid Soap Making Skills, the goal is to make the women in Kalagala and the surrounding village defeat Covid-19 and diversify their household income generating avenues.
The training was Facilitated by Lady Ann Nabakooza, a teacher counselor, an instructor in hands on skills. Character development training was Conducted by Mr. Asan Kezimbira, the president of IAYSP – Uganda.

Follow up strategy

The team intends to make a follow up of the groups through the following means:
Social media platforms(WhatsApp group and Facebook). Participants’ issues shall be attended to via social media platforms, especially a few who can use smart phones.
Help-desk. We have offices with at least one official available everyday. This is a focal point for ongoing access to resources and advise
Web-based materials shall be shared to our participants.
There is also the plan to establish centers of practice for ongoing support. The next training shall be conducted one-on-one to ensure that our participants are fully equipped.
