Service Project and Conference for Peace
In accordance with the program of the International Association of Youth and Students for Peace Africa Region, it was held online and in person the Regional African Youth Assembly throughout the African territory to commemorate the International Youth Day from August 12 to 14, 2021 with several activities organized among which (conferences, service projects for Peace, dance competitions, …) under the Theme: “African Youth Engagement for Prosperity and Planetary Health”.
It is in this same perspective that the Congo Brazzaville Chapter aligned itself with these programs and mobilized more than 185 young people during the 3 days online and in person. Thursday August 12, 2021 in the city of Pointe-Noire, at the headquarters of the Federation for Universal Peace, nearly 30 young people participated in the opening ceremony of the Assembly, the same day, they participated in the project for the Peace. We went to the wild coast, for sanitation all along it. So we had collected all kinds of waste at the edge of the beach because we noticed despite that the public sanitation service put the garbage cans on the beach unfortunately people always throw the garbage out of the bins, so we took the resolve to set an example for others.
And in the fourth town of Nkayi, young people raised awareness about tree protection ”.Friday August 13, 2021 “we followed the Assembly program online in the four cities of the country” Brazzaville, Pointe-Noire, Dolisie and Nkayi “. On Saturday August 14, 2021, the last day of the Assembly, we organized a big conference in the fourth city of the country in Nkayi with the participation of nearly 110 young people. It is in the conference room of the Catholic Church of Nkayi, that the General Secretary IAYSP, the Leader Yannick KASONGO accompanied by the student coordinator, the Leader Ferdinand ELENGA, that the young people of Nkayi benefited from the teachings relating to the vision and the mission of IAYSP, as well as the Sustainable Development Goals and juvenile life.
Started at 3:30 p.m. with an opening prayer offered by the Head of Catechists of the Catholic Church of Nkayi, Leader Ferdinand ELENGA subsequently explained to the participants that we are gathered for the celebration of International Youth Day. Secretary General Yannick KASONGO developed the main theme “African Youth Engagement for Prosperity and Planetary Health”. Leader Ferdinand ELENGA closed the series of conferences with the theme: Autonomous and innovative youth for the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
