Press conference

The International Association of youth and students for peace Zambia was invited by the World clergy leadership conference to attend a press conference that is aimed to address certain issues that are being affected by the nation and also declare that Zambia is a Christian nation and upholds values that the bible shared. The Press conference was held at the Peace embassy in Lusaka, Zambia, and started at 10:30 am (Zambian time) on 4th January 2023.
The program had a variety of panelists starting from the chairman of WCLC, Arch-Bishop Professor Peter Ndhlovu, and The vice president of WCLC, Bishop John Mambo. together with a Sheik from the Zambian Muslim Community. The program also had a variety of media houses and journalists join the participants of program.
The main agenda of the press conference was to share the views of the WCLC on the importance of peace and how religious values are important for promoting peace in Zambia. The panelists discussed the various challenges affecting peace in the nation and the role of religious leaders in promoting peace and stability. The WCLC also committed to working with the other Religious denominations in the country to ensure that peace is maintained in the nation.
Some of the issues that were tackled during the press conference were the LGBT community and its effects on the nation, the economy of the nation and the issue of power cuts (load-shedding), and the responsibility of the church towards the nation.
The press conference ended at 13:00 and it was highly successful as it helped in informing the Zambian public on how to promote peace and stability in the nation. Furthermore, it is hoped that the press conference will help in improving the unity of the nation.
