CLEAN AND BEAUTIFY THE ENVIRONMENT

IAYSP-Kenya organized the Clean and Beautify the environment project on August 12, 2021 in celebrating the International Youth Day.

Many times especially in our society we see that consideration to have a clean and sustainable environment is not taken importantly and wrongs such as dumping, littering and damaging plants become like a norm. This is why the IAYSP youth decided to have a project where of clean up the area around where they have their activities in Karen, Nairobi, and also make it more beautiful. 12 youth gathered on August 12 and had this service project. This involved removing litter and rubbish from the fences and the ground. The fences were trimmed and bushes around the area and brushed the grass of the dry leaves around.

The place was looking much better and more beautiful than before. This inspired those passing in the area and even ourselves who engaged in the project. We felt also that the place is more habitable and sustainable after the project. The project inspired those who attended to engage in similar activities and even do more projects to serve the community and keep the environment healthy.

The participants agreed that it can be a continuous project whereby every couple of weeks (3-4 weeks) the youth can gather and have a follow-up to ensure the progress is not lost. They also agreed that other activities to serve like washing the furniture, cleaning and maintaining the center store and also expanding the activity to the community around.
